Bengalis have changed their wok culture to be a part of the global village
Posted on by Dipmoy Mukherjee

A man in white dhoti and khadi-kurta holding a long handled umbrella and a teacher in occupation with some divine ideologies was the perfect gentleman through out the last decade. This kind of ideal citizen was responsible for any renaissance in Bengal that may be on cultural issue or may be for social reformation. Such an ideal citizen evokes the betterment for the country as well as the society in spite of his own struggle with poverty. With the huge economical change through out the world and with the enlargement of the phenomenon called globalization the concept of ideal citizen has changed completely. The teacher is replaced by a smart, English speaking, confident gentleman or a lady with sharp attitude with complete corporate get up. A man with a tie having the dream to win the entire world is the perfect citizen in the recent era. They have the confidence to establish the nation in the global platform at a very respectable position.

With the concept of ideal citizen the so called “work culture” has also undergone a huge change in the recent era. Bengalis are no more confined with the 10-5 concept rather they became more flexible in terms of their work schedule. The new age people do not mind to work for the whole night just to reach the highest level of success in their respective fields. Bengalis have turned out to be more careerist than the by gone days. Not only the male but the women of Bengal are working side by side just like the other gender. They also focus more on their professional field and simultaneously continue with their personal matter in a very successful way. Bengalis are no more identified with the caste and the family values rather they are better known through their professional identification.

Undoubtedly this shift of concept has brought a radical change in the lives of Bengalis. It is a fact that this change has brought the chance to adjust with the global situation and the Bengalis are really doing well in comparison with the other countries with their professional field all over the world. Simultaneously this is also a fact that the Bengalis are loosing their identification as the unique cultural inhabitants. They have become much more western in terms if their culture. They are no more unique in this definition. Bringing the whole world into the single global village is the main concept of Globalization and the Bengalis have made this in a perfect way through changing their entire work culture.

Merrimaking should have an end with the increasing envioronmental awareness
Posted on by Dipmoy Mukherjee

The immersion of idols of Goddess Durga in the river Ganga is a threat to the numerous creatures and its flora and fauna. Such polluted water endangers the lives of many aqautic creatures. We all enjoy the merrimaking process during the Puja and completely forget about the envioronmental factors to maintain. Specifically the immersion of idols On Dashami causes a great damage and disturbs the ecological balance of water world of river Ganga. Not only the idol but different Biodegradable wastes like flowers, garlands, leaves and solid wastes minimize the oxygen level in the water affecting the envioronment. Basically the beautifully carved idols are made of plastic, cement and plaster of paris and are painted with toxic dyes. Such chemicals tranforms into poison just after its contact with water causing the deadful affects for the marine life.
The end of the festival brings smile to the ecologists as this year the Kolkata Corporation and the port Trust authority has taken a number of steps to control this fatal and hatmful activity. Fortunately enough there are a number of methods that can enhance the enjoynent without aafetcing the encioonment. People are using oco frinedly idols to take control of this factor of pollution. Morover the Calcutta High Court on October 5, 2010 has issued an order just before the Puja to clear the river as early as possible to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Due to this starict direction the KMC has set a number of mini waste bins at every ghat so that the puja organisers can use them to drop flowers and piths. The KMC has engaed more than 350 personnel just to remove the idols of goddess Durga from the river within 24 hrs. Even this is the first time when the Kolkata Port Trust has joind hands with the corporation to make this cleaning proces a huge success. It has decided that the whole expense will be divided between the Corporation and the Port Trust. It is expectd that the distant dram of a clean Ganga will be a reality in this year due to so many joint activities and the strict but essential rule of the High Court. The marine life will be at rlief and can live their pollutionfree and harmless lives.

The seniors win over once again
Posted on by Dipmoy Mukherjee

The hunger of the senior players in the Indian team made the huge victory in the Mohali test match against Australia. This match made the statement very clear that the flavor of test cricket is still encouraging and the senior cricketers like Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Zaheer, of this country maintained their responsibility at a great level to bring the victory. The test match was tremendously exciting till the last moment as the Australians were at the superior position from the very beginning. The partnership of the Ishant Sharma and VVS Laxman at the second innings made this victory possible. Indian cricket team showed its greed and strong ability to fight up to the last moment to win the game. It is a great sign of encouragement for the younger players of the team to learn a lot how to turn the result of a game with an extreme constancy and commitment.

The match was undoubtedly more interesting than the Chennai Super Kings-Warriors final. It was Laxman whose innings was the key factor for the winning in spite of his back injury. His performance with the immense maturity made the path clear for the team to have the victory. His 73 runs is an unbeaten score for the team in this test match. Ishant Sharma was a great support for him with a partnership of 81 runs in the second innings. Even using a runner Laxman was successful of being the captain of the wrecking ship and hold the key till the last moment of victory. Even his partnership with last-man Pragyan Ojha helps to rescue the team from the depths of 8-124 in their chase for 216 to succeed. His sparkling performance brought the smile for the country at the end of the day of tremendous excitement. The test match showed that the maturity and consistency of the seniors are still essential for the Indian team to bring such a victory while the youngsters need to learn a lot rather than giving support from the back of the field.

Ya Devi Sarbabhuteshu sakti rupeno sanksthita….jago maa Durga
Posted on by Dipmoy Mukherjee

Durga puja is the most auspicious festival for the Bengalis. Almost all the Bengalis starts the preparation of this festival from a longtime ago with their shopping and planning. Though the festival starts with the “nabapatrika boron” on Mahasaptami but actually the flavor begins with the sunrise on the day of Mahalaya, just before the exact seven days before the puja.
According to the Hindu ritual this is the day to start the invocation of the supreme power of Devi Durga to come to this earth. This is the day when the puja begins. Undoubtedly the day is a promising one and the priests start their prayer to the Goddess to evoke. Hindu mythology speaks about the story of Uma who comes to her parental house with her children in the Himalayas for the four days and her journey begins at the dawn of Mahalaya starting the Devi paksha. This is also the day of remembrance. People give their Tarpan to their beloved standing in the water of the river Ganga. This can be said that the festive mood begins on this occasion in the autumn.
The importance of the day has been celebrating with a special feature of the innovative radio programme called” Mahisasura Mardini” by the legend Birendra Krishna Bhadra. The programme contains a shivering recitation from the scriptural verses of “chnadi kavya”. This portion of the audio montage is the central attraction of the entire morning. Till today almost all the Bengali families give an alarm to listen to the programme. Bengalis celebrates the dawn of Devipaksha for last six decades. One can say that the biggest festival is incomplete without this broadcast. This has become the integral part of the celebration.
Actually the programme tells the story of the appearance of Devi Durga by the Trinity power Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara to give an end of the cruelty of Mahisasura. The enchanting mantras of Ya Devi Sarbabhuteshu sakti rupeno sanksthita, namasteswai, namasteswai, namasteswai namo namaha invites and invokes the earth the supreme power, the mother goddess, to make the earth enlightened and free from all evil spirit just for a safe survival of the mankind.
We continue with the same intensity of mantra and invocation with religious chanting till today. We devote our prayer with all our purity but the mankind is not safe and the earth is not clear from evil spirit. This greatest creation of God, the planet called the earth, is now full of sorrow, full of malice, full of violence. Peace is no where instead war is everywhere. The mahisasura that lives in all human beings is now imposing his power over the purity and humanity. Human beings love to engage in war just for some lands or money. Innocent people including children are losing their lives due to the incidents caused by terrorism. The peace of several nations is messed up just for some religious binaries. The poor becomes poor and most of the people do not do not look with a turn at the beggar sitting on the opposite footpath before entering into an expensive shopping complex or an amusement park. Mankind is really losing its identity and actual definition of its existence. The time has come to invoke the some supreme power juts to restore the values of humanity from its path of complete decay. The time has come to say and give an appeal to the supreme power “jago Maa Durga, Jago tumi jago….”

A little truth behind a celebrating day
Posted on by Dipmoy Mukherjee

17th September 2010 was the day to evoke the God of architecture Biswakarma. Not only this year but also this day on the calendar always mentioned as a special day for all such industries related with architecture, small industry or any that is related with machine or equipment. This is the day to evoke the lord of tools and equipments. Undoubtedly this was the day to celebrate a holiday for each and every person who works with any kind of equipments. Just like any other festival this day brought a huge level of happiness and cheering up for many people specially who works very hard at the factories of any kind.

It was also a day of celebration of a little boy who is a daily passenger from Bongaon to Barrackpore just to sell a bag full of flowers. This was really a great day for him as he managed to sell all his flowers long time before than the other days. Just like other day he got into the train to go back to his home where his old grand parents and two little sisters are waiting. The boy at his 12 years of age is the sole earning person of the family. Yes, this is tough to belief but this is the fact. He was having a serious fever and even he was not able to sit in a stable condition. The tears in his eyes could not stop due to a severe fear what will happen if he faced any trouble on the way back? What will happen to his family if he could not go back to his home? He was having all the money that he earned in a bag but the little boy was not in a condition to give a little attention to his assets. A few good-hearted people offered a packet of biscuit and a bottle of water to give him a little relief at least. He was also given medicine but the boy was constantly crying and shivering. May be that was the sheer fear of having lost himself or his life. May be that was the tension related with his health and about the family for which he is everything.

This is just an instance of a little boy; A little truth behind a celebrating day. In a country like India this can never be expected that such a celebrating and cheerful day can bring smile to everybody even at least to every child of this land. The child is not responsible for his condition rather he has lost his childhood and trying hard to live and help to live other four souls. If the heart of only 12 years can take such a bold decision then the question arises that is it too difficult to take a little measure from at least 30% of the entire population? Is it too difficult for the people of this land to minimize the expense over the celebration a little bit and help hundreds of such children to live their childhood? Is it too difficult to make this creation of God a place of living in the true sense of the term?

Rahul has done his job; let’s wait for the result
Posted on by Dipmoy Mukherjee

If we recognize Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the caption of new Indian cricket spirit then we have to consider Rahul Gandhi as the new face of Indian politics. Undoubtedly he is the pioneer of political evaluation among the youth of India. Nobody can deny the stand of this 40 years old inheriting of Gandhi family in the progress and performance of Indian National Congress in the last Lok shabha election. The hard work and passion of politics makes Rahul truly the follower of his father and his grand mother. Congress can never deny his part in the Uttar Pradesh politics. He has changed the scenario completely. Now he turns his attention to West Bengal and he is determined completely to break the left rule in the next year Bidhan shabha election. His three days campaign in this state will definitely affect the position of Congress in this state. Rahul has announced in a determined voice that Congress will support trinamul to flash the left out of this land but the process can never be self insulting. Congress will continue with the grace of its long history and will never surrender to any spirit.

Undoubtedly the youth of India finds their replica in Rahul Gnadhi and feels the excitedly and passionate about the politics. India does not have any such young politician before Rahul and he has done his part to awake the youth of India in a satisfactory manner. No only that he is trying hard to bring the prestige and grace of the party in each state of this country. There is need to say that he is very much successful in his part of action. It is also expected that his attention to West Bengal definitely make a huge difference in the performance of Congress in this state. Even the youth of this national party in this state was really missing someone to encourage them more. Rahul has don his part in a very perfect manner to give enough encouragement and courage during his three days stay in this state. The result of his effort will be published in the next year after Bidhan Sabha election.
