The national film awards are the most prestigious recognition of the film industry in India. Each and every year the honorable president of India gives this award to the most promising talents in this industry for the performance of the year. This award is entirely organized by the Directorate of Film festivals of the Government of India. Since the year 1973, the directorate has been selecting the top most performances of each and every year and rewards them with the noblest award in the country as far as the film industry is concerned. The panel formulated by the Government of India of the National level selects among the entries and the ceremony is basically held in the capital city with the presence of the president. Basically there are two segments including the feature films and the non-feature films. In this year it was 56th year of the national film recognition award where Bengalis rocks the floor in various sections including the best film as well as the best lyrics. At the same time Bollywood won at least thirteen awards through the films like Fashion, Rock On! Firaaq and Jodha Akbarin various categories.

This is really surprising and wonderful feeling that apart from the elegant filmmakers in West Bengal like shri Budhhadeb Dasgupta and shri Mrinal Sen, new filmmakers are emerging as well from this state that also have the potentialities to win such prestigious awards. Moreover the very smart making and new thinking with the advance technology also encourages the award panelists to encourage the new comers as well. The variety in the categories of this award shows that Bengalis are not only emerging in any specific field but they are creative in almost every section or part of film making just like their predecessors.
